Our commitment to the environment
We understand the importance of preserving the world’s forests, and have always sourced our products responsibly. Our impeccable purchasing record throughout the company’s history has given us the perfect platform to gain our ‘Chain of Custody’ status. Sustainably sourced timber will always be our aspiration.
FlooringAndDoors.co.uk is part of the NYTimber Group, which has been a ‘Chain of Custody’ company for over 5 years now. We specialise in the supply of high quality Oak doors and both solid and engineered Oak flooring, including wide board Oak floors. We are committed to protecting the environment through the implementation and on-going control of our responsible purchasing policy, using wherever possible well established suppliers with robust environmental credentials.
As a ‘Chain of Custody’ company, we are certified through the following schemes:
FSC Forest Stewardship Council®
PEFC Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification
To ensure that the requirements of these schemes are fully implemented, our management systems are externally and independently verified by third party, accredited annual audit.
- We do not source any timber from species prohibited under Appendix I and II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES)
- Or knowingly buy timber that has been: illegally harvested; sourced from genetically modified trees; sourced from uncertified, high conservation value old growth forests.
When purchasing timber to meet customer ‘Chain of Custody’ requirements, we are only permitted to purchase from suppliers who are also registered to a recognised scheme, which is independently assessed by an accredited third party.
All our staff involved in timber purchasing, have appropriate training in ‘Chain of Custody’ compliances and requirements to ensure all paperwork is correctly administered.
We also recycle over 75% of our packaging products, including paper, plastic and metal, all timber chippings and sawdust. We ensure all timber off-cuts and wastage are managed to a minimum during processing by careful planning and use of the correct timber lengths.
Our ‘Chain of Custody’ certificates for FSC / PEFC are available on request.
